The distinguished Domaine Guy Robin, a revered name in Chablis and a consistent highlight for us, presents its culminating vintage. The 2023 release marks the esteemed producer's final chapter before the family retires from production.
Marie-Ange Robin assumed leadership of the domaine from her father, Guy, in the early 2000s, initiating a transformation that elevated the estate to a preeminent status. She is credited with preserving some of the region's oldest vines, producing a powerhouse of terroir-driven offerings, and presiding over a significant landholding that is surpassed only by William Fèvre.
This collection of new releases serves as a definitive swansong, featuring 3 exquisite bottlings:
2023 Vieilles Vignes Chablis - a staple on our shelf since day 1, and the standard by which we judge all other village Chablis. Sourced from old vines that sit at the top of the slope between premier cru vineyards ‘Montmains’ and ‘Vaillons.’
2023 Premier Cru Montmains - The 50 year old vines are located in the lieu-dit ‘Butteaux,’ the southwest corner of ‘Montmains' and across the river from Chablis' grand cru vineyards. This is pure Kimmeridgian soil called “millefeuille,” or many-layered, with white clay and fossilized oyster shells.
2023 Grand Cru Valmur - The Robin's cleared land near the forest line to plant their vines here in the 1950s and 1960s. This trade off of more altitude for less soil has led to more acid/texture tension and chalkier energy - a welcome relief from the overripeness that Grand Cru Chablis can produce.
This final offering closes the book on a truly iconic Chablis legacy. Stock up now individually or save some $$$ and get the discounted 3-pack.
