Founded by the Guiberteau family in the early 20th century, the winery was revitalized in 1996 when Romain Guiberteau took charge. Guided by the legendary Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard, Romain transformed the estate with a commitment to quality over quantity. Today, Domaine Guiberteau is a benchmark producer in Saumur, known for its minimal intervention, certified organic approach to winemaking. The estate crafts highly sought-after, terroir-expressive wines, including its prestigious Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, from prime vineyards across the region.
The 1-hectare Le Bourg vineyard is a single, prestigious plot within the Brézé terroir of Saumur, featuring sandy-clay soil over a limestone bedrock and planted with Chenin Blanc vines in the early 1940s. This unique combination of old vines and exceptional terroir results in wines of significant intensity and mineral tension.
