Pascal Mugneret believes this to be the finest terroir of the domaine, and the finest expression of his craft. Pascal’s Aux Cras and La Richemone are adjacent but La Richemone is higher on the slope. It is the domaine's steepest parcel and it is plowed by horse. Richemone is composed of two words: riche (mighty, rich) and mone, which sounds like none (nun, sister). Did the parcel belong to rich nuns? It is likely since the nuns at the Abbey du Lieu-Dieu had vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges. (Source: Marie-Hélène Landrieu-Lussigny).
Wine Advocate:
The most muscular, structured wine in the range is the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru La Richemone, a medium to full-bodied, firm and chalky red evocative of sweet berries, spices, baking chocolate and vine smoke. This will, as usual, require some patience.
