Sergio's Pick

Most people, justifiably, think Provence rosé in the summertime and rightly so, but the coastal whites, in particular those from the small fishing village of Cassis, always tops our list this time of year. Delicate aromas of lemon verbena, honeydew melon and white flowers leap from the glass. The palate is lively, mineral driven with Cassis’ signature salinity. The finish is crisp, salty, and refreshing making it perhaps the ultimate seafood wine.

Situated steps from the Mediterranean, the Domaine du Bagnol controls 17 hectares of vines beneath the imposing limestone outcropping of Cap Canaille. Thus situated the domaine is the beneficiary of cooling winds from the north, northwest and northeast, along with the gentle sea breezes that come ashore, ensuring wines of freshness and balance. Today the estate is run by Jean-Louis Genovesi, a Cassis native and his son Sébastien who revived this estate in the early 1990’s and through meticulous farming methods, have made the estate more compelling than ever.
