About the Producer: Due Terre Wines is a collaborative effort between friends focusing on indigenous grape varietals in Italy. All wines that the team produce are monovarietal and with little intervention. This truly allows for an honest expression and for the characteristics of the grape to shine through. They source their grapes from a few different organic family vineyards and had their first bottlings in Sicily. They are very grateful to have exceptional relationships with the farmers in order to get such amazing fruit to make their incredible cuvees.
Impressions: Salty island wines are some of our favorite cuvees around the shop and this Grillo from ‘Due Terre Wines’ fits into the category with its refreshing palate and saline driven finish. Aromas of grapefruit, apricot, and lemongrass drift from the glass as orange blossom, crushed seashell, and thyme evolve from below. Bracing acidity hits the palate that dance with a lean body before a salty bone-dry finish takes over with lasting notes of citrus. Given the cuvee’s bright acidity and subtle herbal note, it would pair fantastically with a variety of fresh seafood dishes or vegetable pastas.
