Società Chiussuma is a small producer founded in 2016 in the high-altitude, terraced vineyards of the Carema appellation in Piedmont, Italy. Winemaker Matteo Ravera Chion and locals Rudy and Alessandra Rovano have focused on restoring abandoned ancient terraces, where all work is done by hand (and with the help of three donkeys) due to the steep slopes. Their philosophy is one of "quiet perseverance" and restoration, producing a very limited number of bottles of elegant, mineral-driven Nebbiolo that reflect the unique alpine terroir.
The Chiussuma vineyard is situated on dramatic, hand-built stone terraces perched roughly 350 meters above sea level near a namesake waterfall.
