Chehalem Winery, established by Harry Peterson-Nedry in 1990, is a pioneering Oregon estate rooted in a deep reverence for the "gentle land" of the Willamette Valley. The winery is renowned for its site-specific approach, emphasizing balance and elegance across its three distinct estate vineyards: Ridgecrest, Corral Creek, and Stoller. The 2002 Pinot Noir Reserve (formerly labeled "Rion Reserve") was crafted as a barrel selection focused on finesse and "feminine" elegance, showcasing the concentrated and well-balanced fruit characteristic of that exceptional vintage. This specific bottling was produced entirely from Ridgecrest Vineyard, a historic site first planted in 1980 that serves as the cornerstone of the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Under the long-term stewardship of Bill Stoller, the winery continues its legacy of sustainable, B Corp-certified winemaking that allows the unique terroir of these classic Oregon sites to shine.
