Château Latour-Martillac, a Grand Cru Classé in Pessac-Léognan, was purchased by the Kressmann family in 1871 and is known for wines that reflect its unique gravel terroir. The red grapes for this bottling are grown on the Martillac plateau, a mix of Gűnz gravel with elements like quartz, jasper, and flint, which provides excellent drainage. This poor, gravelly soil forces the vines to root deeply, yielding grapes with concentrated flavors, while a clay and limestone terroir closer to the Garonne river is ideal for the Merlot in the blend. The winery is dedicated to sustainable practices to preserve this exceptional terroir, which was also the source of the 1929 vintage served at King George VI's coronation.
A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot.
