The Chon family were originally Burgundian winegrowers during the mid-late 17th century before Mathurin Chon left for 'la Cote Atlantique' in 1719, no doubt with an armful of 'Melon de Bourgogne' cuttings, to set up among the Pays Nantais at St. Julien de Concelles. Nearly three centuries later his descendants Gilbert Chon and Fils continue the family tradition with 60 hectares of vines on granite and schistous soils.
