Established in 1970 by David Hohnen, Cape Mentelle is one of the "founding five" estates of Margaret River and is widely credited with establishing the region's global reputation for high-end Cabernet Sauvignon after winning back-to-back Jimmy Watson Trophies in the early 1980s. The fruit for this 2013 release comes primarily from original estate plantings in the Wallcliffe Vineyard, characterized by 40-year-old vines that benefit from cooling Indian Ocean breezes and consistent maritime ripening conditions.

Now owned by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), the winery continues to produce polished, age-worthy wines that emphasize structural finesse and regional identity.
