Notes from Decant:
"Bernabeleva is a pioneer of high-altitude Garnacha in the Gredos-Madrid area, established by Juan Bulnes and guided in early years by Raúl Pérez. The estate is devoted to biodynamic and low-intervention farming, working old vines with sensitivity to bring out a refined expression of granite-inflected Garnacha character.
Miguel Chimeno (successor to Marc Isart) is the winemaker, with all vineyard work carried out by hand under biodynamic and organic principles. Soil and vine health are prioritized, with minimal external inputs to preserve vineyard integrity. Predominantly Garnacha (Grenache), with a small inclusion of Carinena (Cariñena) and other native grapes.
The vineyards are planted between 600 and 830 meters elevation in the San Martín de Valdeiglesias zone, on deeply decomposed granite soils characteristic of the Sierra de Gredos. The high diurnal shift and mineral substrate help amplify freshness and aromatic lift.
Aromas of wild berries, rose petal, and herbal notes are complemented by stony minerals and a subtle floral lift. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fine tannins, lively acidity, and a stony, persistent finish."
