Bérêche et Fils has been producing Champagne since the mid-19th century and has steadily built its reputation as being among the finest producers in the entire region. Sourcing from a deep well of traditional winemaking, it’s been the modern layers introduced by the current winemakers at the helm, the brothers Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche, that have continued to keep this estate in such a highly reputable and esteemed position. The brothers shifted their approach to single vineyard plots with minimal dosages to allow for the vines on their prized territories to speak for themselves. Since they do not allow for malolactic fermentation, their house style can certainly be described as racy.
The range begins with the Brut Réserve, a blend of 70% wines from the base year with the balance reserve wines, composed from approximately one-third each of the three major varieties. A model of harmony, nuance and verve, it is a pure expression of the domaine’s varied terroirs that demonstrates both the Bérêche brother’s great skill and their originality.
The Brut Réserve is equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. The wine displays lots of stone fruit, orange citrus and a strong stony minerality. Elegant, powerful and balanced, this is a stunning Champagne.
