Notes from Strade Bianche:

"Born into a winemaking legacy, Alessandro Salvano grew up surrounded by vineyards—both of his grandparents were winemakers. After honing his craft at Borgogno in Barolo, he set out on his own in 2019, sourcing fruit from his uncle’s vineyard in Montelupo Albese, east of Serralunga.

Alessandro’s wines stand apart from tradition, offering a fresh, vibrant expression of the region. With minimalist labels, he invites us to look beyond appearances and discover the unique character within each bottle.

The grapes come from Alessandro’s family vineyard in Montelupo Albese. While the soils share the same composition as those found in the esteemed crus of Serralunga d’Alba, the vineyard sits just outside the official Barolo region—meaning the wine cannot bear the Barolo name.

Alessandro’s approach to winemaking blends minimal intervention with modern techniques. He employs skin maceration and indigenous yeast fermentation, allowing the wine to express its true character while maintaining freshness and vibrancy. His commitment to quality extends to aging, where he follows the same rigorous standards required by the Barolo appellation, ensuring structure, complexity, and depth in every bottle."
