Winemaker David Foubert moved with his young family to Saumur after what he describes as a long and boring career in communications while living in Paris. Once in Saumur, he apprenticed with several local winemakers, and was eventually able to several plots in La-Puy-Notre-Dame, which had been biodynamically farmed for over 20 years. Even more fortunately, he took over an unused cellar which is ideally proportioned to make the quantity of wine he produces from his 6 hectares of vines.
While Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc makes up the bulk of his production, "P'tite Berthe" is a delightful cuvee of 100% Pineau d'Aunis. Light and refreshing, while also intriguingly savory, with classic notes of white pepper to complement its pleasant red-fruited profile, P'tite Berthe is a quaffable wine that's also worth savoring, if you can!
