Judith Beck is one of our favorite, minimal interventionist producers in Austria. Her biodynamic wines always capture terroir brilliantly, and we find them to inspire countless pairing possibilities. A blend of Austria's main red grapes Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, this is a bright and juicy wine with notes of fresh blackberries and blueberries that cover earthier notes of black & green peppercorns, violets and iron. It's juicy, malbec-link inkiness crescendos with a mild velvet-like tannic touch with lasting impressions of earth, pepper and smoke.
Judith Beck’s winery is run as a family business. Since 1976 the area under vine increased from 5 to 15 ha. Most of the vineyards are situated at the Wagram of the Parndorfer Plate, the most important site of the region. And from 2007 Judith has produced wines in accordance with biodynamic principles.
Tasting Notes: From one of Austria’s most terroir-driven producers comes this gorgeous expression of Austria’s famed red Blaufrankisch. Highly aromatic with notes of fresh marionberries, violets, black peppercorns and iron. The palate is lean with a vibrant acidity that introduces a juicy minerality that leans into a dry, fruity and peppery finish. Best enjoyed with a slight chill. - Sergio (tasted 3/1/25)
