Notes from Avalon Wine:

"With the launch of his own namesake wine, Jacob Martin, Jake strives to honor his family’s tradition while bringing his own creativity to the table. He kicked off his label with a Chardonnay made from 30-year-old vines planted by his father, high in Oregon’s Coast Range. Not surprisingly, the apple that is Jake did not fall from the tree that is Matt — Jake aims to show a wine’s place by not overwhelming the wine with oak or other frills. A superb value in Oregon Chard. Speaking of apple, this brims with heirloom apple notes, mellow lemon, and white spring blossoms. Malo-lactic fermentation is not allowed to take place, giving it a fresh and taught nature to pair with the tasty fruit qualities.

Jacob Martin Kinne (Jake) is the heir to the McKinlay winemaking dynasty. To know the Kinne’s and have visited the winery, that’s as tongue-in-cheek as could possibly be.

Jake was born to make great wine. He grew up tending the land and pressing the grapes with his folks, and his middle name derives from the pioneer winemaker, Martin Ray. In 2010, after a stint on the international professional water polo circuit, Jake returned to his roots and began winemaking full time.1"
