Haja Cortezia Wines is a boutique family project founded by Luis Duarte and Teresa Soares in the coastal village of Cortesia, located at the northern edge of the historic Colares wine region. Operating under the motto "Tradition and soul by the sea," the estate is celebrated for using ancestral winemaking methods to craft authentic, low-intervention Atlantic terroir expressions.

The grapes for their 'Vinhas Velhas Pereiros' Tinto are sourced directly from a 1.5-hectare plot of inherited family old vines. Situated a mere two kilometers from the crashing Atlantic Ocean, this single vineyard features a gentle western slope composed of mineral-rich clay-limestone soils locally known as chão rijo. Here, the co-planted field blend of traditional varieties like Castelão, Tinta Roriz, and Alicante Bouschet yields a wine defined by striking marine salinity and vibrant natural acidity.
