Re-Release from Domaine
Pascal Mugneret believes this to be the finest terroir of the domaine, and the finest expression of his craft. Pascal’s Aux Cras and La Richemone are adjacent but La Richemone is higher on the slope. It is the domaine's steepest parcel and it is plowed by horse. Richemone is composed of two words: riche (mighty, rich) and mone, which sounds like none (nun, sister). Did the parcel belong to rich nuns? It is likely since the nuns at the Abbey du Lieu-Dieu had vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges. (Source: Marie-Hélène Landrieu-Lussigny).
Inside Burgundy:
"Mid red purple. A little reduction coming from the barrel. Otherwise, the nose suggests considerable fruit weight, and a touch of pepper. Juicy on the palate, the wonderful depth of La Richemone, albeit in lighter concentration this year, coupled with a sense of elegance, and fine length."
