North Berkeley Imports:
Domaine Arlaud is a reference point for natural Burgundy wines. Preserving the health and character of their vineyards is of utmost importance to this generations-deep biodynamic winemaking clan. Today the Arlauds stand side-by-side with Burgundy’s most respected names. The estate holds both organic and biodynamic certifications, the very first to do so in Morey-Saint-Denis.
Located at the border with Chambolle-Musigny, and directly below grand cru vineyards Clos de Tart and Bonnes Mares. The name 'Ruchots' stems from the French “roche,” or rocks. Vines planted in 1955 and 1983. 'Ruchots' is the most structured of the Morey-Saint-Denis premier crus, suited for long cellar aging.
William Kelley:
From a parcel below the Clos de Tart, the 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Ruchots is one of the highlights of the Arlaud portfolio. Exhibiting notes of sweet red berries, licorice, potpourri, spices and baking chocolate, it's medium to full-bodied, with good depth at the core, lively acids and powdery tannins, concluding with a sapid finish.
