Château de la Tour, established in 1890 by the Labet and Déchelette families, holds the unique distinction of being the only producer to vinify and age its wine entirely within the historic walls of the Clos de Vougeot. Under the forward-thinking direction of François Labet, the estate has grown into the largest landholder in this legendary grand cru, owning roughly 15 acres across the appellation.
The vineyards are prized for their exceptional location on the upper and middle slopes of the Clos, where well-drained, limestone-rich soils over gravelly subsoil provide optimal terroir. These sustainably farmed plots feature exceptionally old vines, with an average age of over 50 years and some premier parcels exceeding a century old. This ancient vine material yields naturally low production, resulting in deeply concentrated and structured expressions of organic Pinot Noir that beautifully reflect their historic birthplace.
