Founded in 2001 by Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret, Bret Brothers is a boutique négociant project created to explore the diverse terroirs of the Mâconnais and Beaujolais. While their family estate, Domaine de la Soufrandière, focuses on estate-grown fruit in Pouilly-Vinzelles, this label allows the brothers to source from exceptional micro-parcels of old vines—often 40 to 60 years old—belonging to small, independent growers. They strictly partner with farmers who practice certified organic or biodynamic viticulture, ensuring every site meets the same rigorous environmental standards as their own vineyards. To maintain complete quality control, the Bret team personally manages the hand-harvesting of these standing grapes before vinifying them with native yeasts in their Vinzelles cellar. This meticulous approach results in site-specific "micro-cuvées" that highlight renowned climats like the limestone-rich 'En Carementrant' in Pouilly-Fuissé.
