4 Monos (Four Monkeys) was founded in 2010 by four friends—Javier García, Laura Robles, David Velasco, and David Moreno—who shared a passion for the high-altitude, granitic slopes of the Sierra de Gredos. Located near Madrid, the estate focuses on rehabilitating old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena using organic practices and traditional viticulture to preserve the region’s unique heritage. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes low intervention and whole-cluster fermentation, resulting in elegant, mineral-driven wines that have helped put this rugged Spanish region on the global map.
The GR-10 Tinto is a "village-level" cuvée sourced from multiple high-altitude vineyards across the rugged slopes of the Sierra de Gredos, specifically within the San Martín de Valdeiglesias subzone. These parcels sit at elevations between 700 and 960 meters, where the vines thrive in poor, sandy soils composed of decomposed granite. This unique high-mountain terroir is responsible for the wine's signature freshness, floral aromatics, and distinct mineral backbone.
