Husband and wife team, Luca Faccenda and Carolina Roggero founded this winery in 2010 working exclusively within the Roero DOCG. Their youthful energy and diligence in the cellars are showing the true potential and versatility of Arneis. While most producers are happy with the Arneis tagline of ‘white Nebbiolo’ and the fleshy, Chardonnay-like connotation, Valfaccenda expresses a fruity and salty side of Arneis. It’s not a stretch to say that coming across this newly discovered versatility of Arneis is as exciting as modern interpretations of Chenin Blanc. Gentle aromas of honeydew melon, spiced pear, gardenias, macadamias, and lemon oil evolve from the glass. An energetic acidity harmonizes with a gorgeous mineral-forward texture with a light silky presence that gravitates towards a crisp, briny, floral and surprisingly flinty complex finish. Truly an under the radar producer who’s approaching their prime and continuing to build on a stellar reputation.
