Notes from Strade Bianche:
"Located on the first hills of Monferrato Casalese, near the town of Casale Monferrato, Tenuta Migliavacca was founded in 1921 by Enrico Brezza, Francesco's Great Grandfather. It wasn't until 1933 that Enrico's son, Andrea, decided to plant the first vineyards and build the first cellar. Luigi, Andrea's son, later increased the vineyard area to 35 hectares in the early 1960s. Tenuta Migliavacca is a true family operation where the upmost respect and care is paid to the land.
The roughly 32 acres of vineyards are made up of calcareous and clay based soils. They sit at an elevation just below 1000ft. The Freisa vines were planted in 2000. Farming is all Organic and Biodynamically certified."
