Notes from Kermit Lynch Wine Merchants:
"Brothers Bertrand and Denis Chevillon are the fifth generation managers of this property in Nuits- Saint-Georges, which means they work the vines and make the wines. Their father Robert, for whom the domaine is named, is still active as well. Both brothers bring passion, experience, a tireless work ethic, and intensity to their work at the domaine. Tasting through their palate of Nuits-Saint-Georges is a venerable tour of the appellation."
"Les Vaucrains" comes from old French dialect, meaning infertile land. The plot faces east/northeast, on a 15% slope ranging from 850 to 950 feet in elevation. It is considered among Chevillon's top three bottlings, and comparable to Grand Cru quality wines. Grapes are fully destemmed, and undergo a long, slow, cool primary fermentation before a 20 month elevage in roughly 30% new oak.
