In a region as vast as the Chianto Classico zone, capturing as much personality as the wines of Podere Le Boncie really stand out amongst a sea of traditionalists. Winemaker Giovanna Morganti focuses on Sangiovese’s sunnier side, crafting cheerful wines of elegance and intimacy. Complex aromas of cherry compote, a touch of fresh blackberries, forest floor, sage, tarragon, tobacco and wet rocks leap out of the glass. The acidity is palpable and lifts its mineral rich core with a juicy-silky presence that morphs with ripe-smooth tannins that introduce a long, earthy, herbal, slightly pepper finish. This is about as lively a wine that you’ll come across from the Chianti Classico zone.
