Winemaker Dominique Moreau named her estate, Marie Courtin, in honor of her grandmother whom she describes as a “woman of the earth”. The aspiration of this winery goes beyond expressing terroir but are instead guided by a spirituality that’s kept close at hand. Much like the Burgundian philosophies that drive many of today’s exciting Côte des Bar producers, the focus here is on single vineyard, single vintage, single variety, no dosage Champagnes. Sélection Massale is employed to naturally keep the yields low. This 2018 ‘Resonance’ derives from a single parcel of Pinot Noir from the village of Polisot and at over 40 years of age are some of the oldest vines she works with.
Notes from Polaner Selections:
“Fresh and nervy with a rounder character than in past years. Classic Marie Courtin cut with a bit more meat on the bone.”
