Winemakers Matthieu and Marie Boesch are the 11th generation to take charge of the domaine, which has been in the hands of the family since 1640. They are located in the picturesque commune of Westhalten, in the heart of the Ballons des Vosges nature reserve. Building upon their already stellar reputation, they have been farming biodynamic for over 20 years. Their wines are terroir driven, taking full advantage of Alsace’s diverse soil types and vineyard expositions. ‘Les Grandes Lignes’ is sourced from nearly 30-year-old Riesling vines planted over limestone and sandstone soils. The east facing hillside allow for full ripeness and great complexity. Highly aromatic with notes of pomelos, key lime pie, lychee, jasmine, and wet stones jump out of the glass. The acidity is vibrant and carries its slender mineral-driven texture towards a crisp, pithy, and slightly flinty finish with great length and touches of salinity. Wonderful tension and quality that far exceeds its price point.
