Hure Freres is a family business through and through. Run by brothers François and Pierre, with guidance from their father Raoul, this winery harnasses the potential of Ludes; a fantastic Premier Cru on the Reims mountain. The brothers believe that great Champagne starts in the vines, and they farm all their vineyards using Biodynamic and Organic practices. A far cry from the industrial style farming favored by big Champagne houses.
Flor tasting notes:
Like Burgundy, you can get a sense of what the winemaker’s style is in Champagne based on their entry level wine. ‘Invitation’ captures this brilliantly, showing off tons of complexity normally associated with a domaine’s higher tier bottlings: Despite not declaring a vintage this wine is 100% from 2019 and opens with lovely aromas of stone fruit, quince, white flowers, seashells and honey. The mousse is lifted and elegant, gently glides past a juicy-mineral texture towards a crisp, savory and chalky finish.
