Goodfellow Family Cellars is one of our favorite local producers. Marcus and Megan are laser focused on farming the sites they farm, and working very closely with growers where they purchase they fruit. Whistling Ridge is a major component of the winery's production. Whistling Ridge Vineyard was first planted in 1990. The 14 acre vineyard sits on the ridge top, with a slight south-east aspect, catching the evening breeze from the northwest year round. Shallow soils force roots deep in Oregon's drought summer conditions, creating wines defined by elegance married to structure.
This is a wine cellared to a beautiful place. Ripe orchard fruit hinting at the exotic. Lovely steely, almost metallic, mineralogy compliments the fruit on the plate. Run texture with plenty of acidity. The finish is long, very long.
