The Rinaldi name carries with it an air of expertise and gravitas in the entire Piemonte region. Founded in the mid-19th century, this estate has a well-earned reputation for producing wines of profundity and elegance. Brunate is considered one of the greatest vineyards in Barolo and represents one of the two flagship single cru bottlings at this estate. This 2015 is surprisingly approachable with inviting aromas of dark plums, black raspberries, pipe tobacco, star anise, white pepper, and saddle leather. The acid is energetic and lifts its mineral-rich, concentrated, smooth, full body with ease before it descends into gentle cedar toned tannins leaving behind a long, smoky, spicy, and aromatic persistence on the finish. Despite its aging potential, this ‘Brunate’ can be enjoyed in its youth with minor decanting. Truly harmonious.
