Fattoria San Lorenzo is currently in the hands of third generation winemaker Natalino Crognaletti. Known for his exceptionally ageworthy Verdicchios, he benefits from a family vineyard that has been gradually improved upon through careful replanting using the best adapted of their old Verdicchio clones. This work, done by his father and grandfather, the family's penchant for experimentation with extended lees aging in the cellar, and their close proximity to the Adriatic Sea (30 km) create an ideal situation for Natalino to craft wines among the highest quality in his appellation.
About the cuvee:
Campo delle Oche, or field of geese, is a nod to San Lorenzo's biodynamic farming, which utilizes animal grazing in the vineyards for pest control. This cuvee sees 30 months of lees aging in concrete and stainless steel tanks and an additional 6 months of bottle aging prior to release.
