Notes from Princeton Corkscrew Wineshop:

"Domaine Ricard is a 22-hectare certified organic estate located in Théssé in the Cher hills of Touraine in the Loire Valley. In 1999, Vincent Ricard and his father, Alain, bought themselves out of their cooperative contract and founded Domaine Ricard. Vincent is the fifth generation of his family to run the domaine, where he crafts expressive wines primarily from Sauvignon Blanc but also Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Chardonnay and Côt (Malbec). All of his labels are based on canvases painted by a friend and can be seen in his tasting room.

Vincent's Le Petiot is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc from low yielding, 30-year old vines. All grapes are carefully selected, gently pressed and undergo a long, slow fermentation at cool temperatures to preserve the wonderful fruit aromas and flavors Vincent works so hard to develop in the vineyard. The wine is aged on its fine lees in 80% stainless steel tanks and 30% fourth use oak barrels. Light lemon color with explosive citrus aromas of grapefruit and lemon alongside a savory green herbal note. The palate features an exceptional balance of ripe, energetic fruit with vibrant acidity that provides refreshment and flavor. A beautiful Loire Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy with seafood dishes or plate of fresh goat cheese and vegetables."
