Notes from Domaine Pillot Laurent et Romain:
"Over time, successive generations have developed the estate by following the evolution of techniques. Romain is part of the 6th producing generation.
When his grandfather Raymond took over from his father Henri, there were 4 hectares, no trellising and fruit trees filled the vines. Polyculture made it possible to provide additional income to feed the horse. Raymond sold the first bottles in the 1960s and bought its first straddle in 1966.
Then his two sons joined him and continued to expand the cultivated area, which now totals 17 hectares. In 1994, the cellar, dating from 1764, was completely renovated to convert it into a tasting cellar and a place to store bottles.
This Mercurey 1er Cru "En Sazenay" offers us a deep ruby red color with purplish reflections. On the nose, we discover a subtle woodiness that rivals the red fruits. Freshness, suppleness and finesse make up a mouth that lets us discover notes of black fruits on the finish."
