Notes from the producer:
"Straddling the towns of Saint Cyr sur mer and Bandol, perched on the hills overlooking the sea and the calanque of Port d'Alon, the Domaine de Frégate benefits from several privileges. Its geographic location, situated on a headland looking onto the South and the West, provides the ideal climate for the grapes to fully ripen. The grape varieties, consiting of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault, give the red and rosé wines the distinctively typical characteristics of a Bandol AOC.
Nowadays, the vineyard covers an area of 26 hectares. Operated by a SCEA, the Domaine de Frégate wine cellar has been producing wine since 1971. The vineyard is built on chalky, stoney, arid and clay terrain, producing small yields of wine. These soils, which are especially rich in siliceous elements, are found in most of the Protected Designation of Origin wine areas. With its 300 days of sunshine per year, our region has an exceptional climate. Thanks to the beneficial power of the wind which brings just the right amount of rain and the mistral wind which encourages makes for an extraordinary state of health, the vine bears its fruit when perfectly ripe."
