Notes from Bachey-Legros:
"Our plot nevertheless reveals a strong identity: concentrated on the lieu-dit "Les Petits Clos", extremely well exposed East-West, in the heart of the appellation. Its rich, red, clay-limestone soils, drawn upon by deeply-rooted vines planted in 1950, give the wine the roundness of great whie wines, heightened and balanced by a good mineral structure.
The character of our Domain lies in its "vieilles vignes." These low yielding vines, planted for the most part between 1935 and 1955, nurtured with care, with deeply-anchored roots and concentrated grapes, provide the foundation of our wines. Concentration is matched with elegance and the character of this terroir is unmistakable. Balance is the key.
Our vineyard of 18 hectares is comprised of the finest plots in Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Maranges, where the optimal qualities of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are expressed.
The style and quality of our wines are intimately linked to the history of our family. Spanning six generations, since the 19th century, Francois Bachey, Lazare, Joseph, Marcel and Christiane - each an only child - have continued and continue to pass on our personal approach to winemaking and our distinctive heritage."
