Named after the road near Arianna Occhipinti’s vineyard in Vittoria, the SP68 rosso is a 70/30 Frappato/Nera d’Avola blend from the estate’s younger vines. This rosso serves as a proper introduction to some of the hallmarks of Occhipinti’s wines: transparent and terroir-driven with bright, palate refreshing acidity. This vintage is highly aromatic with ripe red cherries, dark plum and stewed blackberries over a background of violets, dried roses and nasturtium. The acidity carries a medium bodied juicy texture with a minimal dusty tannin presence that finishes with a smoky, slightly spicy note. Beaujolais-like in its appeal with a Sicilian edge through and through.
