Château Condat lies on the old site of a castle built by Guillaume Le Penitent and the King of England Henry II in the 11th Century. The vineyard is located on a plateau of red gravel like the best wines from Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. Now revived by the Janoueix family, this noble but once neglected domaine has returned to its former glory. The vineyard, located on a fold of gravelly soil, is the pride of its owner. Its south-facing orientation ensures excellent sun exposure, with gravel reflecting the rays like a mirror. This, combined with good drainage, encourages deep root growth into the rich, trace element laden subsoil, formed by ancient alluviums from a quaternary river originating from the Massif Central.
A deep and fruity wine blended with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc.
