Notes from Terres des Templiers:
"This very steep vineyard, 25km long and 5km wide and the southernmost in France, forms a vast amphitheater facing the sea . The Pyrenees plunging into the Mediterranean Sea are held back by more than 6000 km of schist stone walls, built and maintained by our winegrowers, true mountain sculptors."
The Collioure and Banyuls vineyards are located in the far south of France, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean, basking in the southern sun. The vines are planted on terraces on schist hillsides, stretching from the seaside to the valley bottoms of the hinterland."
Initial nose has delicate woodiness and notes of menthol and mirabelle plum. Upon swirling, pear brandy, apricot, medlar, vanilla and cinnamon bring all their intensity. On the palate, its classy, balanced and fresh. Finish reminiscent of candied chestnut brought by the aging in demi-muids."
