Notes from Camille Giroud:

"Vosne-Romanée enjoys an exceptional reputation thanks to the richness of its history. The monks settled in Cîteaux in 1098 had prestigious climates around the town. The cellar of Clos de Vougeot is very close. The Dukes of Burgundy had a hunting rendezvous in Vosne. In 1760, Louis-Ferdinand de Bourbon acquired La Romanée which gave rise to the mythical wine Romanée-Conti. In 1866, an imperial decree from Napoleon III authorized the wine-growing towns of the Côte to add to their name that of the finage's greatest vintage. Vosne naturally becomes Vosne-Romanée.

Vosne takes its name from a derivative of the Gaulish vidumos which means forests.

The origin of Chalandins has not been identified to date.

Our wine comes from a vineyard located in the commune of Flagey-Echezeaux in the place called Les Chalandins, close to the lower part of the Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot. Exposed to the south-east and at an altitude of 245 meters, it rests on deep clay-silt soil laid on the marl of Bresse."
